delight, teach, and guide young readers and new pet owners as they are
introduced to the day-by-day joys and trials that adopting a family pet brings.

In 2004, husband and wife team, Donald and Sara Hassler celebrated their passion
for both animals and children's books and founded PugTale Publishing—A
company dedicated to helping novice and experienced pet owners learn about
responsible pet care and the commitment needed to love a pet for a lifetime. The
Hasslers published their first storybook in October 2007.
Warmly received by their industry peers, their debut title, Loving Marley, has
earned twelve literary honors including an iParenting Media Award, the prestigious
Mom's Choice Award, and the Dove "Family Approved" seal, Creative Child
Magazine award Book of the Year Award and has been nominated for the
Children's Crown Awards.
Nominated in 2008, the Hasslers proudly serve the publishing industry as judges
for the Mom’s Choice Awards®.
The Hasslers support the spirit of the Independent Press and also enjoy serving
the publishing industry as book reviewers for Midwest Book Review.
Donald and Sara believe that writing about the love we have for animals plays an
important role in the humane treatment of pets. They encourage fellow writers and
have served as judges for the Dog Writers Association of America Annual Writing
Competition.
The authors reside in Connecticut with Marley and Belle, the real-life inspiration for
the PugTale Adventures storybooks.
